«BAKU INTERBANK CURRENCY EXCHANGE» CELEBRATES THE 15 YEARS OLD ANNIVERSARY FROM THE MOMENT OF FOUNDATION
“Baku Interbank Currency Exchange” celebrates the 15 years old anniversary from the moment of foundation. On 26 July, 1993 National Bank of country and the state credit establishments – International, Savings, Industrially-investment and Agro-industrial banks undertook initiative on creation of currency exchange in Azerbaijan. Becoming of important link of financial system, BBVB at the beginning of its activity mainly pursued the purpose of forming of the organized currency market. Expansion of spectrum of financial services predetermined principle of universality of forming of exchange floor in future. Among realized projects first in the country by BBVB and its shareholders it is possible to mark maintenance of appeal of emissions of State Short-term Bonds (SSB) of the Ministry of Finance, organization of the first transaction in the sector of share market, creation of Depositary of securities, the establishment of standards of accounting operations at the stock market, establishment of special Commission on listing, the first interbank credit auctions, and also start of universal trading-settlement exchange complex. The last became the prototype of information-trading system “BEST”, started by exchange in 2001 and becoming first exchanges trading system on Caucasus. It is necessary to note that BBVB has met the anniversary date with impressive results. So, the total volume of trades on all exchange markets for July 25 of this year has already exceeded 1,74 billion USD, that makes 93% turn of the last year. At the same time for 15 years at the exchange more than 4500 trading sessions were conducted and combined trading turnover of BBVB has exceeded 10 billions in a dollar equivalent. It proves again, that the electronic trading system of BBVB possesses sufficient potential for further development from the point of view attraction of new participants, multiplying in number of tools and volume of the conducted operations.
